A Polish climber has been killed in the Himalayas.
Thirty three year-old Piotr Morawski was a member of an international expedition up the west face of Manaslu, a peak of 8156 metres. He fell into a 200-metre deep crevice at an altitude of 5500 metres.
Piotr Morawski was one of Poland’s most accomplished mountaineers. He has scaled six peaks over 8000 metres, including Annapurna, Nanga Parbat and Gasherbrum I. He held a Ph.D. in chemistry and was on the faculty of the Warsaw University of Technology. Photography was his other passion in life.
