• DM Klich visits Polish troops in Lebanon
  • 09.04.2009

Polish Defence Minister Bogdan Klich is with a visit to Polish soldiers stationed in Lebanon, on the Golan Heights and in Chad.

Poland will be withdrawing its contingents serving there within six months.

Poland joined the UN mission in Lebanon in the 1990s. Currently, around 500 soldiers are stationed there. Minister Klich said that currently Poland participated more intensely on NATO and EU missions and the UN missions did not mean as much for state security as they once did.

The Polish Defence Ministry plans to use the resources from the UN missions towards funding the mission in Afghanistan.
