Today is Holy Saturday, final day of the Holy Week, the final day of the Paschal Triduum after Holy Thursday, and Good Friday - the memory of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Holy Saturday wraps up the 40-day Lent and commemorates Jesus lying in the tomb until his resurrection on Easter Sunday. In Poland, the day is dominated by the tradition of blessing foods to be eaten on Easter Sunday morning. Vigils are held in churches and the faithful visit the tomb with the Blessed Sacrament.
The day is also supposed to be meatless in anticipation of the Easter morning breakfast.
