Polish State Gas and Oil Mining (PGNiG) and the Qatargas company have signed a contract for the delivery of liquid natural gas.

The 20 year agreement provides for the delivery of 1 million tons annually from Qatar to Poland. According to PGNiG the first ships with liquid gas could arrive at the Swinoujscie sea terminal in 2014. The construction of the facilities should be completed by 2013 but they would still need to be fitted with specialist equipment.

PGNiG plans to make use of the liquid gas imports from Qatar to supply power plants.
