Poles have a limited knowledge about the European Parliament – shows the latest opinion poll by GFK Polonia commissioned by “Rzeczpospolita” daily. 

Only 11 percent of respondents know that Poland currently has 54 seats in the EP while 25 percent know that the term of  the European Parliament lasts five years.  The poll also shows that 38 percent of Poles know that the elections to the European Parliament have only taken place once in Poland so far.  

According to Krzysztof Szczerski of the Jagiellonian University, such a lack of knowledge shows that Poles have little interest in the European Union institutions and their policies.  (di)
