The German energy company RWE has launched the first stage of a project of investing in wind farms in Poland. The first wind turbines have been installed on the territory of the Suwałki Wind Park in north-eastern Poland. Up to 18 wind turbines are to be installed there with each of them with the 2.3 megawatt output. After connecting them to the grid, they will jointly produce 80 milion kilowatts of electricity annually which will satisfy the needs of about forty thousand statistical households.
According to Wilfried Topp of RWE Innogy, the investment is to be ready in the fall. "We install between two and three turbines weekly. And that means that we will start, at least we hope to be a little bit earlier, that we can start with the production in September” he said.
The next stage of a project of investing in windfarms in Poland involves the creation of another windfarm in the locality of Tychowo. According to the company, the first wind power systems are due to come on stream next year. (di)
