The Big Read is this year’s World’s Biggest Lesson, a worldwide initiative held within the framework of the ongoing Global Action Week.

Organised by the Global Campaign, the event will focus on youth and adult literacy and lifelong learning, under theme “Quality Education to End Exclusion”. On this day, Education International, representing up to 30 million teachers and education workers across the world, holds activites promoting education, including seminars, meetings, panel discussions.

In Poland, teacher trade unions have invited public figures, including Education Minister Katarzyna Hall, to join the Big Read action. Along with other participants, she is to read an excerpt from her favourite book.

According to the Global Campaign for Education, 770 million adults are illiterate, while 75 million children have no access to school education.
