Polish FM Radosław Sikorski

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said he was glad that the Polish delegation boycotted the UN conference on racism.

The reason for that was the suspicion that Iranian president, Mahmud Ahmadineżad, could make some anti-Israeli statements. In his speech, the Iranian president called the Isreali government 'racist' and part of the delegates left the room.

According to Polish foreign minister Radosław Sikorski, Poland's diplomacy is better at predicting such issues than other EU delegations. 'Several hours earlier we had done what our colleagues from the European Union did later in the conference room,' said Minister Sikorski.

Besides Poland, Israel, the US, Canada, Australia, Italy, the Netherlands and Germany also boycotted the conference before it began.
