A Pakistani Air Force plane has landed at Warsaw’s Okecie military airport with the body of Piotr Stanczak.
The Polish geologist had been abducted in September last year by the Taliban in the north-west of Pakistan. He was executed by his captors on February 7th following an ultimatum to release of a group of imprisoned Taliban terrorists which the government in Islamabad refused to comply with. The kidnappers handed over the body of the murdered Pole only after weeks of negotiations and ransom paid by the Pakistani authorities.
The coffin with the remains of Piotr Stanczak was escorted to Poland by a high ranking official of the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, who conveyed condolences on behalf of his government to the family of the terrorist victim. Rehman Malik assured his country has been closely cooperating with Polish prosecutors and shall do everything in its power to find those responsible for the crime and bring them to justice.
A military Color Guard ceremony accompanied the departure of the special flight from Islamabad and similar observances with prayers have been held in Warsaw.
