  • 29.04.2009

Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi, who is in Warsaw for the EPP Congress, has met with Poland’s president Lech Kaczynski.

Speaking after the talks, Mr. Berlusconi said his country is counting on the expansion of economic cooperation with Poland: “Let me confirm our interest in a wider trade exchange. We want to advance from third to second place on the list of Polish partners. We also want to move from fifth to fourth position in terms of investments in Poland.”

Lech Kaczynski, on his part, reiterated that such cooperation is in the interest of both sides.

Another topic of the Polish and Italian leaders’ discussion was policy regarding their relations with Russia. Stressed was also the fact that Warsaw and Rome share similar outlook on a number of key European foreign policy issues.
