Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Poland's Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski will pay a visit to Moscow on May 5 and 6. On the agenda of the visit are discussions on the energy security and the American missile shield project.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman, Andrei Nesterenko, the issues will be presented to Poland from Russia’s perspective in a very comprehensive way. He also added that Russia regards the attempts of pulling Georgia and Ukraine into NATO and the plans of placing the elements of the America missile shield in Poland as, he put it, "unacceptable".
Nesterenko also reiterated that Poland is one of Russia’s most important trade partners in eastern Europe. Bilateral trade turnover last year amounted to over 27 billion USD. (di)
