It is the UEFA that will make a final decision on the number of Polish and Ukrainian cities hosting the EURO 2012 tournament while the information appearing in the media are speculations - said Marcin Herra, the chairman of the PL2012 - the company supervising the organization of the event in this country.
His comment follows the publication in Gazeta Wyborcza daily which wrote that five cities will be selected from each country.
According to Herra, the organizing committee is only interested in what UEFA officially decides. He also added that a Polish delegation with Polish Football Federation head Grzegorz Lato and sports minister Miroslaw Drzewiecki is heading to UEFA seat in Nyon, Switzerland today to present the report on the progress of Poland's preparations to stage the event.
"These arrangements are very clear - there will be from six to eight cities and on May 13 which is in a few days UEFA will make a decision and will inform us about it. UEFA Steering Committee is meeting is Switzerland tomorrow and we will discuss our state of preparations to host the even there” he said.
According to media reports, the Polish cities to host the games of the tournament are Warsaw, Gdansk, Wroclaw, Poznan and Krakow. In Ukraine the event will take place in Kiev, Donetsk, Lviv, Odessa and Dnepropetrovsk. (di)
