Władysław Bartoszewski , was honoured for his great input in the understanding between the states of EuropeThe award was also presented in recognition of Wladyslaw Bartoszewski’s personal and political commitment for the improvement of Polish-German relations. During the ceremonies in Magdeburg, the premier of Saxony Anhalt Wolfgang Böhmer , called Wladyslaw Bartoszewski ‘a pioneer of democratic Poland and Polish-German reconciliation.’
The Emperor Otto award is granted every two years, to people involved in European reconciliation, especially committed to building relations between Germany and the Central and Eastern European states.
