• PM Tusk in Poznań
  • 09.05.2009

“We are going to the ballot not to beat anyone here in Poland but to win Europe for Poland, because we can” said Prime Minister Donald Tusk at the first regional convention of the Civic Platform, held in Poznań, in the run-up to the elections to the European Parliament.

Premier Tusk said that the candidates had competences, qualifications, a friendly attitude to Europe, and would be able to change Europe and Poland for better. He said that these “people in  white and red scarves” had European imagination and a global power, and would convince Europe that Poland not only can be but already de facto is a leader.

PM Tusk also spoke of his decision to move part of the observances connected with the 20 anniversary of the June 4 elections which ended communism in Poland, from Gdańsk to Kraków.

He said that on June 4, Poles decided that the future of Poland would not be decided on the street, but that it had been a triumph of reasonable thinking – the kind that Poznań was renowned for.
