• Four gold medals for Polish ski jumping hopes

Unofficial ski jumping world championships for children Lotos Grand Prix started in Zakopane, southern Poland, on Monday bringing as many as four gold medals for the Poles.

 

The gold medals were awarded to: Pawel Slowiok, Damian Zyla, Krzysztof Leja and “the greatest hope of the Polish ski jumping”, Klimek Muranka.

 

The 14 years old ski jumper from Poland was the only one to jump further than 70 metres. Even three years older competitors failed to defeat him.

 

Klimek Muranka has been jumping long distances four years now. When just was ten years old he jumped 135.5 meters.

 

The two-day tournament in Zakopane gathered 113 ski jumpers form Poland, the Czech Republic, Norway, Slovenia and Hungary, aged 11-17, both boys and girls. (jm)
